Okinawan
Folk Songs by Junko Fisher 2013 #5
Junko Fisher and friends performed at the Kaufmann
Theatre
of the American Museum of Natural History in March 2012.
The Museum was hosting an event called "Japan Fest,"
in celebration of
the 100-year anniversary of Tokyo presenting New York City with
cherry blossom trees.
The songs: Nangoku Sodachi, Mashunku Bushi and Danju Kariyushi.
Danju Kariyushi song is very popular in Okinawa,
usually performed as the end of a stage performance.
Danju Kariyushi is a prayer for the successful completion of
a ship's voyage,
as well as a celebration of the journey of life.
I love these Okinawan songs very much.
